I have been following the health care debate. Many Americans are scared of a big government-run health care scheme. But doing nothing about the current system is not an option. We have the best health care delivery system in the world-if you have good insurance, money, or influence. We have the worst if you don't. I believe some minor tinkering is all that is needed, not an expensive, major overhaul.
1. Give working Americans their own money back to buy their own health insurance, pay deductibles/co-pays out of a Medical Savings Account. I would like to file for half of my FICA withholding and set up an MSA. Then i could use the money towards my next fix..
2. Make people/families responsible for the frist $2,000 per adult, $4,000 per couple, and $500 per child/dependent adult out of pocket-adjusted for inflation and income. Low income earners would have subsidies, and high income earners would have the means to meet this requirement.
3. Private insurance would pick up anything over $2001 to $250,000 per year. This limits payouts so they can keep their rates low, and still make a profit.
4. Government or reinsurance would pick up the rest.
Stay tuned for more tips...
