Meg Whitman charges Steve Poizner in hit campaign pieces of spending too much money on new cars while serving as California's Insurance Comissioner. They even show his head bobbing out of Impala convertibles with big chrome wheels.
Her claim is true. However, my investigation has found he may have saved the state $9 million a year. How? By ordering a top to bottom review of the State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF), the states "public option" for workers compensation insurance. In response, SCIF is purging 1000 cars from it's fleet. This in accordance to a story in the Workers Comp Executive, an online trade journal for workers compensation managers published 5/10/2010. The move has met some opposition from the powerful SEIU, but most of the cars being eliminated were driven by managers and executives as personal perks, not cars used for field work.
It seems to me Steve Poizner has demonstrated an ability to save the state money on cars, but also face down a powerful government workers union. He or Meg will need this skill if they are to save California from financial meltdown.

Meg Whitman lies in her ads. Her claim that Poizner increased the insurance department budget by 14% has been proved false by several independent organizations and media:

Also, you remember her claim that Poizner bought Chevrolet Impalas with a "street package" for the insurance department? Well, that is false too. There is no such thing as a "street package" for Impalas. I know, I reviewed all the auto purchase documents from the department.
If she is so willing to falsify the facts in a 30-second ad, what other types of unethical behavior will she conduct if elected governor?
