Bloomington Blogger wishes you a happy and prosperous New Year. 2010 will have to be better than last year. If we committ to these ten things for our liitle town, 2010 can mark a turning point for our hometown..So here goes.
1. We will come together as a town.
2. We will stand up and be counted in the census. Watch the mail for U.S. Census forms, fill them out, and return them in the mail. This will affect all levels of funding for the coming decade for infrastructure improvements we will need to attact tax generating employers to the town.
3. We will strive to improve ourselves individually.
4. We will stamp out visible homelessness. No excuse for veterans, women and children out on the streets. 39% are white males. Where is the outrage? Reverse discrimination, perhaps?
5. We will attend Municipal Advisory Committee meetings. First Tueesday of each month at Ayala Park community center, 7 p.m.
6. We will not buy anything from illegal street vendors, such as tejuino stands, churro carts, or street flower gals. Let's support established local businesses and restaurants, instead.
7. We will not tolerate graffiti. You can call the We Tip hotline anonymously to report it.
8. We will drive safely, soberly, with a CA drivers license and adequate insurance.
9. We will fight for fair and just immigration reform that will protect our borders as well as the rights of citizens and those who want to become U.S. citizens.
10. We will fight to improve and widen the I-10/Cedar Avenue interchange, so Bloomington will not be divided north and south.

2009 EGG NOG BLOG
Hello family and friends!
My infamous Christmas newsletter is back by unpopular demand. So have an eggnog or other favorite drink, and enjoy this trashy holiday tradition.
2009 has been, for me, a year of recovery. I was shot while robbed at AutoZone in Rancho Cucamonga, during work time, in October 2007. Being close to death, i realize all the more how important faith, friends and family have been to my recovery. I want to thank God, Jesus Christ, my family-particularly my mother and sister, my church The Bridge Church of the Nazarene, and the legal team of Cleveland and Metz, and all the doctors and medical professionals for all the roles they have played in managing my workers comp claim and my recovery. It is still ongoing in the mental and social areas, but i am physically recovered whole.
I realize God still has me on earth for a purpose. My aim in life is to be more like Him, and live life at it's fullest every day.
I was priveleged to be the best man at John McMurtrey's wedding in February 2009. He found himself a woman in the Phillipines who was praying for a husband when he walked by. He struck up a conversation with Mary Rose. One thing led to another, they started calling and writing, and he worked to bring her to America. She arrived with her daughter and soon they became a family of sorts. Finally John has a measure of happiness he has been searching for years. He has rededicated himself back to Jesus, too. His nephew Ian, along with his mom and dad, were baptised as a family this year, too. We had a great wedding at the I Do Wedding Chapel in Moreno Valley, CA.
I am still single and available. Not only am i a parts counterperson at AutoZone, i am a writer. I am working on a book proposal about dating and courtship for Christian men, based on the story of Moses. i also want to be an advocate for truly fair and just workers comp reform. i have so many projects i will go with my heart.
My nephews are doing well. Brent Vaughn graduated from the University of Oregon this past summer, and will complete his degree in January. He is an honors with a double major in Psychology and Spanish. He would like to go serve on the Peace Corp, Americorps, or teacher corps, then possibly go to grad school, to be a counselor for at-risk youth or a teacher.
David Perry, my other nephew has come back to California. He is working in IT and enrolled in a college like University of Phoenix. He is one of my many Facebook friends.
A couple of my friends went home to be with the Lord this year. One was Mike Marks. He was a race car driver who got involved with Raceway Ministries, who serve professional race car drivers and their families, like Mark Martin. He was friendly, outgoing man who loved Jesus, and shared his love in the motorsports. His church was full to overflowing with people as his life celebration.
Just recently Loney Gilson died suddenly of a heart attack. His funeral was Saturday. He was a dear friend of mine, as was his wife, daughter, brothers. Pray for the Gilson family. Heavens gain is an earthly loss.
I pray that you and yours have a merry Christmas, a happy holiday season, and a blessed New Year. If you want to know more about Jesus Christ, myself, or workers comp reform, write me an email at royaperry@yahoo.com

10 Ways To Fix Health Care
I have been following the health care debate. Many Americans are scared of a big government-run health care scheme. But doing nothing about the current system is not an option. We have the best health care delivery system in the world-if you have good insurance, money, or influence. We have the worst if you don't. I believe some minor tinkering is all that is needed, not an expensive, major overhaul.
1. Give working Americans their own money back to buy their own health insurance, pay deductibles/co-pays out of a Medical Savings Account. I would like to file for half of my FICA withholding and set up an MSA. Then i could use the money towards my next fix..
2. Make people/families responsible for the frist $2,000 per adult, $4,000 per couple, and $500 per child/dependent adult out of pocket-adjusted for inflation and income. Low income earners would have subsidies, and high income earners would have the means to meet this requirement.
3. Private insurance would pick up anything over $2001 to $250,000 per year. This limits payouts so they can keep their rates low, and still make a profit.
4. Government or reinsurance would pick up the rest.
Stay tuned for more tips...

Michaels Golden Casket
Like millions of people around the world, i watched Michael Jackson's memorial service at Staples Center. The thing that struck me was his casket-a gold/brass plated coffin, costing an estimated US$25,000. I thought he was broke.
I do not begrudge the Jackson family wanting to say goodbye to their son in the fashion he wanted. I hope he left some instructions in his will/papers about his final wishes. If anything it reflects the brilliant entertainer that he was.
I remember his music from the 70's and 80's, as he grew in talent and stature.
I choose to focus on positive memories. Yes he was an accused child molester, and his personal life was a mess. But who are we to judge the selection of a gold plated casket?
The point i want to make today is this. One of the ways to express love to our families is to prepare them for our departure from this earth. Please let them know your wishes-in writing-how you want to be remembered. Learn about the ins and outs of cremation vs. burial. Do you want a service with as open casket, or do you want a gathering at a funeral home? How about a party at a pub?
Some years ago i was a "preneed counselor". I tried to sell cemetery plots for a cemetary operated by Dignity Memorial/Service Corporation International. I learned a lot about the selling of funerals and stuff. If you can, avoid doing business with anyone associated with "Dignity Memorial". Watch your wallet.
Check out some of these resources: funeral.org, forestlawn.com, dignitymemorial.com for more info on how to plan for something that is certain to happen.

Rush Limbaugh Duh Story For Singles
Rush Limbaugh reported that commitments makes women fatter. Rush Limbaugh, a thrice married and divorced man, and Americas former de-facto leader of the Conservative Movement, was remarking on the findings of a study in "Obesity Today", showing that women who are married or in committed long-term relationships gain weight. So, one way to gage if a woman is single and available is to see if she has lost weight recently. I guess women who are in a relationship are comfortable, and let themselves go. it was followed by an audio skit where a woman on her first date orders half a salad, and sound of her blowing up are made while she progresses in a relationship. What do you think?
