2009 EGG NOG BLOG

Hello family and friends!

My infamous Christmas newsletter is back by unpopular demand. So have an eggnog or other favorite drink, and enjoy this trashy holiday tradition.

2009 has been, for me, a year of recovery. I was shot while robbed at AutoZone in Rancho Cucamonga, during work time, in October 2007. Being close to death, i realize all the more how important faith, friends and family have been to my recovery. I want to thank God, Jesus Christ, my family-particularly my mother and sister, my church The Bridge Church of the Nazarene, and the legal team of Cleveland and Metz, and all the doctors and medical professionals for all the roles they have played in managing my workers comp claim and my recovery. It is still ongoing in the mental and social areas, but i am physically recovered whole.

I realize God still has me on earth for a purpose. My aim in life is to be more like Him, and live life at it's fullest every day.

I was priveleged to be the best man at John McMurtrey's wedding in February 2009. He found himself a woman in the Phillipines who was praying for a husband when he walked by. He struck up a conversation with Mary Rose. One thing led to another, they started calling and writing, and he worked to bring her to America. She arrived with her daughter and soon they became a family of sorts. Finally John has a measure of happiness he has been searching for years. He has rededicated himself back to Jesus, too. His nephew Ian, along with his mom and dad, were baptised as a family this year, too. We had a great wedding at the I Do Wedding Chapel in Moreno Valley, CA.

I am still single and available. Not only am i a parts counterperson at AutoZone, i am a writer. I am working on a book proposal about dating and courtship for Christian men, based on the story of Moses. i also want to be an advocate for truly fair and just workers comp reform. i have so many projects i will go with my heart.

My nephews are doing well. Brent Vaughn graduated from the University of Oregon this past summer, and will complete his degree in January. He is an honors with a double major in Psychology and Spanish. He would like to go serve on the Peace Corp, Americorps, or teacher corps, then possibly go to grad school, to be a counselor for at-risk youth or a teacher.

David Perry, my other nephew has come back to California. He is working in IT and enrolled in a college like University of Phoenix. He is one of my many Facebook friends.

A couple of my friends went home to be with the Lord this year. One was Mike Marks. He was a race car driver who got involved with Raceway Ministries, who serve professional race car drivers and their families, like Mark Martin. He was friendly, outgoing man who loved Jesus, and shared his love in the motorsports. His church was full to overflowing with people as his life celebration.

Just recently Loney Gilson died suddenly of a heart attack. His funeral was Saturday. He was a dear friend of mine, as was his wife, daughter, brothers. Pray for the Gilson family. Heavens gain is an earthly loss.

I pray that you and yours have a merry Christmas, a happy holiday season, and a blessed New Year. If you want to know more about Jesus Christ, myself, or workers comp reform, write me an email at royaperry@yahoo.com

Love, peace, happiness in Jesus
